Van Staal Fishing Reels
Van Staal Fishing reels are top of the range, mainly salt-water,
high-tech fishing reels for spinning, baitcasting, and fly-fishing. The
company was was founded in 1987 in Fairfield, Connecticut by Robert Koelewyn,
an aeronatic engineer who happened to look at the world of fishing reels
and had the idea and courage to create a reliable, low maintenance sturdy
fishing gears. In 2001, Reel Ventures LLC acquired Van Staal. In 2003 W.C.
Bradley bought Van Staal and is focused to bring back the original quality
which is probably happening.
The company philosophy is that van stall reels "work harder and last longer
than any others".
The material used are aluminimum, titanium and stainless steel. The real "secret" is
their air-tight system which enclose the reel mechanism from the outside world
completely and so you can drop the reel even in salt-water and start using
it without any need to clean and lubricate it.
The company recognize that when you buy a reel of this kind you have made
an investment and so provides a high quality maintenance and repair service.
The model VSB100G ( 10/225 mono,
15/280 braided, 4.75:1, 6 bearings) received good reviews and was reported
as probably the best value/price ratio in the top
range of salt water reels.
