Van Staal Fishing reels are top of the range, mainly salt-water, high-tech fishing reels for spinning, baitcasting, and fly-fishing. The company was was founded in 1987 in Fairfield, Connecticut by Robert Koelewyn, an aeronatic engineer who happened to look at the world of fishing reels and had the idea and courage to create a reliable, low maintenance sturdy fishing gears. In 2001, Reel Ventures LLC acquired Van Staal. In 2003 W.C. Bradley bought Van Staal and is focused to bring back the original quality which is probably happening.
