STATISTICS

There were 7.7 million surf water anglers according to the latest U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service report, in 2006

2006 NJ report here. In 2006 there were 654'000 anglers in New Jersey (both resident and not) who fished for an average of 13 days each. Of these, 76% (496'000 anglers) were for salt water. So in New Jersey there was about 6.4% of the total US salt water angler activity.

New Jersey Fish and Wildlife Department

The New Jersey State Government Fish & Wildlife Division website explain very well all necessary requirements (licence, places to fish, which fish there are, etc......) and has got a nice salt water fishing guide as well to download.

Fishing Reports

Reports can be accessed in this excellent website heres where actually all reports from all states can also be seen. They are updated daily and count on volunteers.
