Mako reels

Jack Chalton is the man behind Mako reels which he started to produce after 2003 after his first series signed "Chalton Signature" which were made from 1994 to 2003 in about 6000 items in 6 series (from trout to deep water fishing).

Interestingly Jack grew up in the desert of Arizona but was attracted to the ocean and has been a boater for almost 40 years now...

...and he's been a man the industry look at for his innovative and reliable salt water fly reels.

Jack is an aerospace machinist by trade, founded his company in 1974 with the first CNC machines. His interests in water, sailing and fishing led him to produce his first reels in August 1993 after relocating his all flight control components company to WA.

Drag system: carbon in a water-tight

Philosophy: latest technology with the highest quality for the best price for the customer

Some reviews

"The workmanship is clearly beautiful and meticulous. On the surface, they are a significant notch above any other reels I have put my hands on...I just wanted to thank you for a fine product, and I had no mechanical failures whatsoever"

"Now I don't chase salt water trophys, but have used this reel extensively since "93" and its going strong into this century, fifeteen years later...Thanks for building such a solid system."

"The drag is a multi-disc carbon fiber setup and is incredibly smooth and strong. The dragknob is set in a bearing and is the smoothest operating knob I think I've ever used. " Jim Williams of justreels.com
