Lamson Fly Reels
Lamson fly reels were developed since the 1980s but with design and technology in mind when Waterworks bought the Lamson manufacturing operation from Sage in 1998...
"When we began developing fly reels in 1996, we started with a blank sheet of paper and undertook a total re-think of the fly reel..."
This is a very interesting approach. And quite corageous as well, when you consider how competitive is this market...
So "not a typical fly fishing company" as they say. In fact they are more a design company (making also bycicles and walking sticks), a think-tank with the "bug" for fishing, understandably...
When they tackled the creation of a new reel, they dived into a full-depth exploration of the harbour reels history and features and came up with these objective:
reducing weight
simplifying the mechanism
maximising the benefits of a large spool
using superior materials
creating the world best drag system
I can only say that I would really love to be using one of their reels which looks beautiful and looks like having a super-smooth drag system....
Lamson Fly reels reviews
"I dont know anything about bycycles but I do know fly reels, and lamson is top knotch." (youtube casual visitor)
"I would give Lamson a 10/10 and would seriously suggest this reel to anyone who is surfing the market."(youtube casual viewer)
Here a little negative review for the light-speed reel:
"I have a $60 Okuma reel that I can't tell the much difference between the litespeed. And with the difference in price that's pretty sad. If I had the choice again, I probably wouldn't have gone for the litespeed.
UPDATE: Okay I have to give another star because the folks at Lamson are pretty helpful and understanding. They said the coating can vary from batch to batch so I'll give it another shot. Great customer service makes a great company. " (Amazon Reviewer)
