Milan, (Italy), my flytieing destination...
Flytieing in Milan!
Flytieing can wait for a moment, can't it? And sorry for the large size of some of the pictures but I wanted to share with you my keen wonder every time I come to Milan, this beautiful metropolitan and historical Italian town...
This is what I see when I step out from the Milan underground and exit to Piazza Duomo. Not bad isn't it? The "Duomo" is a neo-gothic building and traditionally hold Jesus Cross' nails brought to Milan from the Holy Land by some pilgrims in the early Middle Ages, allegedely.
Milan was and is an important spiritual place as well. Bishop St. Ambrosius and St. Agustine lived and worked here in the IV century AD.
Before flytieing, ops flytying, I spend sometimes some free time in this fashion and cultural European city.
Well - you might wonder by now - why do I go to Milan for flytying? Well, I live in Chiasso, Switzerland, just at the border with Italy, only 30 km from Milan. I was born in Como, Italy and I am Italian and Swiss. I lived, studied and worked in Switzerland before travelling and living in many places. I come to Milan because I like the people and city here! They have my same...DNA.
There is a nice bookshop here...and dozens of shops and restaurants and bars.
Not far from the Duomo, behind the Sforza's Castle is the Parco Sempione which I cross to reach Cso Sempione and eventually my flyangling club. Ok, it's all dark. That's because I go there at night. But I'll promise you to show you some pictures of Milan during the day, too!
Piazza Sempione, the start of the long avenue of Corso Sempione, very close to my end destination.
Motorbykes, are Italy and Europe's lifestyle's symbols.
Finally some daylight pictures! This is a detail of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, a popular meeting place next to the Duomo.
La Scala, Opera Theater
