Fly Fishing Klokot River - Bosnia and Herzegovina

((Bihac, Bosnia and Herzegovina) )
The company RIZ Krajina has been successfully running an ecological fish-farm and a spawning-ground for the autochthonous species grayling and brown trout since 2000. Thanks to a very skilled staff and using only the best food and equipment, it has managed to be the first company in whole south-eastern Europe to reproduce the very demanding grayling. More than half of the produced fish is now exported to the neighbouring countries, much of which for fish-ranching.
In May 2009, the company has taken over the management of fly-fishing district Klokot.
Being aware that only autochthonous fish is ecologically compatible and touristically sensible, the new management has put a great value on replacing the immigrant rainbow trout before re-stocking the river with grayling and brown trout.
By opening the new fly-fishing district, RIZ Krajina is starting with its touristic activity which will be expanded with the construction of an eco-tourist settlement between the villages Kulen Vakuf and Martin Brod, approx. 50 min from Bihac.
These projects are the result of the company's conviction that the beautiful region "Bosnian Krajina" offers a huge potential for nature-based tourism, including fly-fishing, which is supposed to strongly develop during the coming years.
