An interesting graph for the general (I assume USA) trend is this one: Well, I might be wrong. So I checked for jobs for geologists, a job market I know since I am one, and it seems correct ("Decreased 22%") Conclusion: take the guides trend for what it is, it might give you a hope, but don't overestimate it. In the end it's a niche market and so very locally based. It might work in one area and not in another one. Anyhow, I know two fly fishing guides working in Italy, Tuscany: One is Massimo Magliocco, a professional guide I wrote already about; then Moreno Borriero who is also a bamboo rod maker and a guide in the Sansepolcro area and Tuscany.
