Fenwick Fishing Rods
Fenwick fishing rods are so called because of a lake in Washington state
where the company was founded. At the beginning of the '50s fiberglass blanks
were becoming available and a group of five fly fishermen in search for the
perfect rod started the company as a part-time activity.
Like many US companies, Fenwick started in a garage, near Kent by Lake Fenwick.
The company moved to Westminster in 1967, guided by Phil Clock who moved
the production to the first rods exclusively designed for the bass fisherman.
In the '70s, graphite as a material appeared and Fenwick became the
first company to introduce a revolutionary all-graphite fishing rod, the HMG which
stands for High Modulus Graphite.
Today, Fenwick fishing rods are recognized as top quality rods. The fishermen
of today is not a generalist anymore, though, and so there are many "specialists":
bass fisherman, walleye fisherman, fly fisherman, saltwater fisherman...and
more!
