Dallari Fly Reels
Dallari Fly reels are made of wood, briarwood and particularly the now almost impossible to find quality called "Amboina briar" (pterocarpus indicus) or burled amboyna, very different from the briar wood to make pipes. Burled amboyna comes from Asia.
Amboina briar was used to make rolls-royce dashboards.
Giorgio Dallari started making fly reels completely by hand on his sparetime in the middle of November 1990. By early March he made his first prototype which friends liked immediately.
In 2008 he won the EFTTEX "Best New Fly Reel".
My friend Alberto Poratelli, took with him one these reels at the Sommerset Fly Show, NY, USA in 2007 and many visitors got big eyes on his reel, despite the heavy tag.
