Berkley Fishing Rods

Berkley
fishing rods are made by a company started 71 years ago in Spirit Lake,
Iowa (USA) by a 16 years old named Berkley Bedell. It was June 1937 and
the boy was making hand-tied flies to resell
in tackle shops. Local girls had to be hired to meet the demand and the
company grew.
After the second World War, he returned to focus on the business of cable
wire leaders. Berkley had the idea to coat a metal wire with nylon and so
the first Steelon TM leader was created followed by the Trilene
TM monofilament line.
Berkley entered the world of fishing rods in the '60s and the one of plastic
baits in the '80s while the '70s were years of International expansion
and today it has offices in 18 countries (Canada, Europe, Asia).
Today the company produces all kind of tackle, rods (including ice rods)
and reels.
