This is me (left), Alessandro Brunelli, with my friend Luciano Oltolini (I can't say enough what a good craftman is Luciano and it's an irony this page must be just about me).

I am Swiss and Italian and live in Chiasso, Switzerland. But I also lived in South Africa (Durban, see below) and worked in Afghanistan, Sri-Lanka, South Africa (where I met my wife) and Sudan with the International Red Cross Committe.

I am a geologist by trade, but I practically never worked as such (most probably I was in the wrong place at the wrong time) so I made sense of my life with different other experiences. I worked also as a maths and sciences teacher, in pharmaceutical and software sales. But I also played around HTML and websites since 1994 and made a -very simple - TV advertisement for a Hotel in Capetown that sometimes I still see on TV even today...

I started bamboo rod making because I remembered an old man making bamboo fly fishing rods in a magazine long time ago. And somehow I never forgot about it. So when I returned from the dry landscapes of Darfur (Sudan) I must have naturally thought of water...and fishing.
